We here at The Archives wished to demonstrate our appreciation for all the hard work, finances, and other personal investments that have gone toward creating this immensely complex and addictive social experience, which has now dominated our thoughts, captured our hearts, and heightened our imagination for nearly half a decade. Nightvol’s Art Exhibit
26 Thoth – Our highly diversified realm would not be complete without its very own “professional” artist or at least that may have been the sentiment held by one uniquely gifted disciple. Allow me to introduce you to Nightvol (Monolith), apparent master of the digital paintbrush, who invites those who desire to be “drawn good” to volunteer themselves as portrait subjects.

To date, the talented Mr. Nightvol has rendered 28 illustrations each depicting a particular personality in Ankhet. The paintings are basic in technique, created using MSPaint and completed in under ten minutes, yet they exhibit an undeniable humor-inducing quality that succeeds in leaving audiences yearning for more. Moreover, the level of creativity seems to increase impressively with each release.

The Archives eagerly awaits Nightvol’s future works, but for now here are some of our current favorites:

The Return of Sadi
30 Thoth – The debate as to who should claim rightful ownership of the fiercely contested Sovereign Staff once belonging to the legendary combat strategist, Sadi, the infamous mastermind behind one the most elaborate attacks ever performed by a single disciple, may finally have been settled. And the choice may surprise you.

For those not familar with the history, roughly two years ago, Sadi suddenly declared war on virtually every active member of the community not allied with him, a rather large section of the Ankhet population. Caught completely by surprise, there was very little his carefully chosen targets could offer in the form of resistance. In the end the devastation was nothing short of magnificent as twenty-three disciples all fell, one by one, to a seemingly endless barrage of unprovoked attacks.

As a means of escaping the fallout of his actions, Sadi elected to succumb to Ennui; in this way, essentially deserting his allies and leaving them to face an outraged community alone. Receiving the brunt of the backlash was his dearest Jenn, who was at the time selected the lucky beneficiary to Sadi’s Sovereign Staff. Try as she might, however, she just could not shake off accusations about her alleged support and involvement in Sadi’s decimation spree. By decree of Black Jack, then leader of The Riven (disbanded) and principal target in Sadi’s attacks, the staff was promptly confiscated and placed under his personal supervision until such time as Sadi should return to reclaim it.

Over the course of the last couple of years the staff has been held by numerous disciples; PorQ Cheops, Mullhotep, Fornax, Jim (N: Hatred), Alejandro, and ghostOpyroto to name a few, but somehow the staff has always found its way back to Jenn, who was largely considered its true owner. However, due to her inactivity, possession of the staff has been enjoyed almost exclusively by Ishmael (N: Perdition), the latest alias of Black Jack.

Recently, however, it was learned that the disciple formerly known as Sadi had returned to Ankhet under the guise of Lifetaker. And in an open forum he demanded his “stick” be returned to him. After an obligatory exchange of pleasantries, Ishmael presented the Sadi reincarnate with an intriguing proposal; that he choose any individual not within his circle of allies to be the rightful owner of the staff. Initially, a new player called Phoenix (Hatred) was selected, but Ishmael would not grant possession to someone so inexperienced. Pondering his decision further, Sadi finally came to choose LadyUtena (N: Hem-Netjer) under the condition that she never pass the staff into the hands of Ishmael, Sadi or any of their future incarnations. Afterwards there was hugging, kissing, and some crying; a truly special spectacle to behold.

And thus ends one of the more interesting plot lines occuring in the realm, but where one ends another begins. With Sadi’s return comes a certain degree of unpredictability, a welcomed treat for those of us in the field of reporting. What will happen next? Stay tuned.
